Keep Evolving March Newsletter – The Road Less Travelled

Dear Evolvers,

Sometimes the best path to lasting health isn’t the one most travelled. Conventional approaches often focus on treating symptoms, but real transformation occurs when we look at the whole person: mind, body, and lifestyle.

As I progress through my master’s course in Functional Nutrition and Integrative Health, I’m constantly reminded of this truth. The more I learn, the more I realise how interconnected our health choices are – and how small, intentional changes can lead to profound shifts in well-being. True transformation happens when we step back and take a holistic view.

This month, we’re embracing that approach, exploring ways to nourish, move, and thrive beyond the standard solutions. With exciting events, expert insights, and the upcoming launch of our signature course Longevity on a Plate, there’s never been a better time to step off the beaten path and discover what’s possible when wellness is approached from the inside out.

Functional Medicine – Inspired health tips

The tongue is a powerful indicator of your internal health. Here are five signs to pay attention to:

  1. White Coating – May indicate poor digestion, yeast overgrowth, or an imbalanced microbiome. Support gut health with fermented foods, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes.

  2. Cracks or Grooves – Can be linked to dehydration or nutrient deficiencies, particularly B vitamins and zinc. Hydrate well and eat a balanced, whole-food diet.

  3. Red or Inflamed Tongue – Often associated with heat in the body, inflammation, or low iron. Support with anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric, leafy greens, and omega-3s.

  4. Pale Tongue – A sign of possible anaemia or poor circulation. Ensure you’re getting enough iron, vitamin B12, and warming foods like ginger and cinnamon.

  5. Scalloped Edges – Can indicate sluggish digestion, fluid retention, or adrenal stress. Support your liver and adrenal function with proper hydration, adaptogens, and deep breathing practices.

The tongue is just one piece of the puzzle. Pair these insights with mindful eating, stress management, and movement for a holistic health approach.
