In terms of health & wellbeing, what is the best thing you have ever invested in?
The best thing I have ever invested in is my health and my daily dedication to it. My Garmin watch encourages me to train and run weekly. Running is therapy for my body, mind, and soul. Whenever I feel those initial pangs of anxiety, I put on my running shoes, and soon the anxiety is long forgotten. If you struggle with mental overload and constant rumination, you should consider running. It allows you to create crucial space in your mind for more important things.
What are some activities that bring you joy? (What renews you?)
Training and running, dancing, bird watching, and playing with my animals (2 cats and 2 dogs). I'm a huge animal lover - there is nothing like an animal to soothe the soul. A great book with a hot cup of tea and spending time in nature.
Of all your accomplishments &/ or experiences along your journey, what has been the most meaningful for you?
My master's degree provided me with an incredible platform and allowed me the opportunity to help those suffering from mental health issues. I have had the chance to promote wellness for many individuals, which is my life's work. I am grateful for this opportunity every day. My three young boys have taught me the meaning of pride, strength, and determination. Being a mother to my children is a real gift.
If you could meet a celebrity, who would you choose to have coffee with & why? Or simply – who do you admire/ take inspiration from.
Esther Perel speaks about the concept of ambivalence. She teaches how to view troubled individuals in an ambivalent way, which paves the path for forgiveness. This concept is incredibly important for those struggling with difficult relationships in their lives.
Favourite book/ quote.
Viktor Frankl's 'Man's Search for Meaning' deeply resonates with me. As an existentialist, I believe in the profound importance of believing in oneself and transforming our pain into meaningful experiences. Finding significance in our challenges is essential for living authentically. Another favourite book of mine is my prayer book. I believe it contains all the words I need to move forward and live each day to the fullest. Each prayer passage serves as a meditation that keeps me focused and determined to succeed on my journey. I attribute everything to my faith in God.
One liner – your own mantra to the world.
Maya Angelou: "I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it. Nelson Mandela: "Do not judge me by my success, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again."
