Lead Facilitator: Fiona Patel
Yoga is often thought of as a series of poses, but in truth it is a way of living. It is the art of returning to yourself again and again, through both good days and hard ones. In this first module, you’ll pause, reflect, and plant the first seeds for your own understanding of yoga — where it began, how it has blossomed through time, and how it can nourish your body, mind, and spirit in everyday life.
Together, we’ll explore stories, practical theory, and personal journaling to help you uncover your own answer to the question: What does yoga mean to you?
Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, you’ll be able to:
• Describe yoga’s journey from ancient spiritual tradition to modern wellness practice
• Identify the Eight Limbs of Yoga and recognise them in daily life
• Compare popular yoga styles and match them to different physical, mental, and emotional needs
• Reflect on your own yoga journey — past, present, and future
• Understand how movement, breath, and mindfulness weave together to create balance on and off the mat
